Waste Code Determination Hierarchy
In order to determine the waste code corresponding to a waste in the Annex-4 waste list, the following waste code determination hierarchy is applied;
- In sections 01 to 12 or 17 to 20, the source of the waste and the appropriate six-digit waste code are determined.
- In order to determine the code of the waste, if a suitable waste code cannot be found in sections 01 to 12 or 17 to 20, sections 13, 14 and 15 are examined.
- If a suitable waste code cannot be found in these sections, the waste is evaluated according to section 16.
If the waste cannot be defined in the 16th section, the appropriate waste code, which is in accordance with the main activity codes in the waste list and ends with 99 is used with the approval of the Ministry. It is obligatory to document whether the wastes ending with 99 are dangerous or not by analysis based on the concentration values in Annex-3/B.
